explorer preview pane favorite links empty

Explorer Preview pane Favorite Links (Empty)

This is strange, The preview pane in explorer was working fine until I restarted. The folder view works, but the favorite links are gone. Show Preview and Filters are selected in folder options. Help.

It is checked. Favorite Links Says (Empty) Usually Documents, Music and others go there, but the word Empty appears instaed.

Try right clicking in the empty Favorite Links pane and selecting Restore Default Common Places.
As to why they disappeared, I don't know. If it happens again and you're sure it wasn't something you did, file a bug. using the Feedback link on your desktop.

I figured it out . If you delete the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/LINKFILE ISShortcut entry in the registrty will remove the arrows on desktop icons, but removing the entry, ISShortcut, will destroy the Prewiew pane Favorite Links.
